Day 238 – 365 Things to do in the Southern Highlands

DAY TWO HUNDRED AND THIRTY EIGHT Haulin the Hume

Tomorrow, the Southern Highlands will be graced by the presence of the best collection of historic trucks in Australia, as they relive the past in their ‘Haulin the Hume’ event.

In a former life, the Old Hume Highway was a mere treacherous two lane winding highway, through Razorback Mountain near Camden, onto Picton, Bargo, Mittagong and Berrima. As we know it now, it is a busy four lane freeway!

More than 100 vintage trucks and buses will participate in the Western Sydney Historical Truck Club event and the trucks are due to be passing through the Highlands mid to late morning.

So, here’s a heads up to keep your ear out for the sounds of these wonderful historic machines tomorrow morning.

What a wonderful piece of history to pass through the beautiful Southern Highlands!
